Banca Intesa awarded with VIRTUS recognition for volunteering

Banca Intesa has won the VIRTUS 2013 award for corporate philanthropy in employee volunteering category, awarded by Trag foundation, with the support of the Balkan Democracy Fund, the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Team of the Government of the Republic of Serbia (SIPRU) and the European Union. The Bank has been awarded for its systematic approach to the volunteerism development and promotion among its employees, as well as for a series of volunteering projects and initiatives it conducted between September, 2012, and late October, 2013.

During last year, Banca Intesa established a corporate volunteering programme entitled “Intesa from the Heart”, which involved donation of time, knowledge and energy of the bank employees for the benefit of the society we are living in. A volunteer club bearing the same name was formed and the bank continued with carrying out traditional volunteer projects, such as preparation of New Year presents for children with special needs. Also, new projects, focused on advancement of the wider social community and environmental protection were initiated. Banca Intesa employees contributed to implementation of the major environmental campaigns in the country, financial education of the young and carrying out of different charity initiatives.

VIRTUS award was established in 2007. It is the first and the most important award for corporate philanthropy in Serbia that promotes CSR as an integral part of companies’ sustainable development. It is intended for large companies, SMEs and individuals that have most effectively contributed within one year to general well-being by providing material or other support to non-profit campaigns or civil society organizations.
