Banca Intesa, in accordance with the agreement achieved in the National Bank of Serbia, started with the implementation of measures that are proposed in order to facilitate the repayment of loans for citizens. Accordingly, Banca Intesa cancelled prepayment fees for all loans, except in case of refinancing in other bank and started receiving requests from customers for extension of the tenor. Also, the Bank has started to convert loans indexed in Swiss francs into euros, as well as the loans indexed to foreign currency into RSD ones. Banca Intesa will render these services at no extra cost.
"We believe that this set of measures will act preventively and reduce the negative effects that may arise as a consequence of the financial crisis. In this manner, citizens are enabled to facilitate repayment of its loan obligations through the extension of repayment deadlines, and in particular, the opportunity to unburden themselves of exchange risk. We expect the greatest interest of the citizens for the extension of tenors for the existing loans and conversion of loans indexed in foreign currencies into dinars, or from Swiss francs to euros," said Dejan Tešić, a member of the Executive Board of Banca Intesa.
Although Banca Intesa, in line with to the market requirements, has in repayment mortgage loans in Swiss Francs, and from the very beginning, the Bank clients were advised not to debit themselves in that currency, just because of the high risks that implies, which presently turned to be justified. "Owing to these precaution measures, the number of approved loans in Swiss francs compared to the total number of approved mortgage loans in our bank is insignificant, however recently we have been receiving a lot of queries about the possibilities for refinancing repayment of mortgage loans in Swiss francs from other banks." adds Dejan Tešić.
