Intesa Sanpaolo leading in Serbia

According to the data of the NBS regarding the results of the Serbian banking sector, realized in the first quarter of this year, the banking group Intesa Sanpaolo is a leading one, both according to the sum of total assets, total loans and deposits, and according to the sum of total capital. According to the data of the NBS regarding the results of the Serbian banking sector, realized in the first quarter of this year, the banking group Intesa Sanpaolo is a leading one, both according to the sum of total assets, total loans and deposits, and according to the sum of total capital. Banking group Intesa Sanpaolo, established on January 1st 2007, performs business operations in Serbia through Banca Intesa and Panonska banka. Together these two banks in the end of the first quarter have total assets in the amount of 1,86 billion euros (152 billion RSD) and a market share of 12 percent, which enables the group to have a leading position in the Serbian banking sector. Intesa Sanpaolo is a leading bank also according to the amount of total loans of 841 million euros (68,6 billion RSD), which represents a market share of 11,6 percent. The group has a leading position also according to the sum of total deposits of 1,36 billion euros (111.3 billion RSD), with the market share of 13 percent. After in February Banca Intesa increased the capital for additional 100 million euros, Intesa Sanpaolo according to the amount of total capital in the sum of 288 million euros (23,469 billion RSD), became a leading player in Serbia. Intesa Sanpaolo plans activities aiming at the further consolidation of the market position in Serbia, which implies finding an adequate organization model which would give an optimal result, through a contemporaneous assessment of quality and regional character of Panonska banka. Until now, an organizational, business and IT integration has been announced, therefore a joint appearance of Banca Intesa Beograd and Panonska Banka is expected already in 2008.
