Intesa Farmer project presented at EXPO Milano 2015

Banca Intesa presented today its Intesa Farmer agricultural development support programme at the Serbian pavilion of universal exposition EXPO Milano 2015. Intesa Farmer, an annual competition for best agricultural producers in crop farming, vegetable growing, fruit growing and cattle breeding, was launched in 2013 to promote the important role that agriculture plays in Serbia’s economic development, as well as to contribute to the further progress of the domestic agricultural sector and improvement of its competitiveness by endorsing the most successful farmers.

“We are very pleased to be able to showcase Intesa Farmer to the international audience, in cooperation with the Commissariat General of the Republic of Serbia for EXPO, thus providing further contribution to the promotion of the Serbian food and agricultural industry on a global scale. Being a member of Intesa Sanpaolo group, the official global partner of EXPO Milano 2015, we have awarded winners of this year’s Intesa Farmer contest with a visit to the world exhibition and enabled them to present themselves to EXPO visitors. In addition, they will be in a position to learn about technological innovations in food production process and to visit Italian farms, thus acquiring new experience that will help them improve own production results,” said Đorđe Radulović, head of Banca Intesa Office for managing registered farming household clients.

Presentation of the Intesa Farmer project is the continuation of activities through which Banca Intesa wants to support promotion of Serbia’s agriculture and food industry at universal exposition EXPO Milano 2015. In the presence of top officials of the Serbian and Italian governments and diplomatic missions, as well as representatives of business associations and companies from the two countries, the bank organized a business forum in Milan in June to boost bilateral economic ties by using the potential of agriculture and the food industry, as well as to allow Serbian companies to establish business contacts with companies from Italy.

“Over the six months that universal exposition EXPO Milano 2015 has been running, the pavilion of the Republic of Serbia registered more than 600,000 visitors, and we are also one of the pavilions in the Bio-Mediterranean cluster that organized the largest number of events and best presented the potentials in all sectors of the economy, especially in agriculture and the processing industry. This is confirmed by the visit of Banca Intesa delegation at the very closing of the manifestation and the presentation of the Intesa Farmer project and its winners from this year. In total, more than 500 Serbian companies have presented themselves at the Serbian pavilion since May and around 100 domestic products have been displayed”, said Žarko Malinović, Commissioner General of the Republic of Serbia for EXPO Milano 2015.
