Antonio Giovanni Maria Bergalio

Antonio Giovanni Maria Bergalio was appointed as the Chief Governance Officer and Member of the Executive Board of Banca Intesa on January 1, 2026, after almost two decades spent in top management positions at several other banks within the Intesa Sanpaolo Group.

He started his professional career in the construction sector, continued in academic, and subsequently in banking sector holding management positions within the Planning and Control function of several Italian banks. He also has significant consulting experience in the field of financial services.

He became part of the top management team of Intesa Sanpaolo in 2008, when he took over the position of the Chief Financial Officer at Pravex Bank in Ukraine, and then at VUB Bank in Slovakia and Privredna Banka Zagreb, where he was a member of the Executive Board in addition to his role as the Chief Financial Officer.

He comes to Banca Intesa from the position of Deputy Chairman and Member of the Executive Board of Alex Bank in Egypt, where he also served as an advisor to the Chairman of the Executive Board.

He is a member of the Supervisory Board of Pravex Bank in Ukraine, and previously held the same position within PBZ Card d.o.o. in Croatia, as well as Intesa Sanpaolo Bank in Slovenia.

He holds a Master's degree in Economics with honors from the University of Genoa.
