Darko Popovic Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy
Darko Popović, President of the Executive Board of Banca Intesa, has been awarded the title of Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy in recognition of his significant contribution to developing relations between Italy and Serbia and generous support for economic, cultural and charitable activities of the Italian Embassy. The decoration was presented by the Ambassador of Italy to Serbia, Luca Gori, at a ceremony held at the Italian Embassy in Belgrade on the occasion of the National Made in Italy Day.
“It is a great honor to receive this prestigious recognition, which I see not only as a testament to personal commitment but also as a reflection of the collective work of all institutions in which Banca Intesa participates with the goal of strengthening cooperation between our two countries. As a member of the Intesa Sanpaolo banking group and the leading bank in Serbia, Banca Intesa has for two decades been building bridges that go beyond banking—contributing to the enhancement of economic, business, and cultural ties, and promoting a strong partnership between Serbia and Italy,” said Darko Popović.
The Order of the Star of Italy is one of the most prestigious honors awarded by the Republic of Italy. It is granted to individuals whose work and dedication have made a significant contribution to strengthening friendly relations and cooperation between Italy and other countries, as well as promoting ties with Italy. The award is conferred by the President of the Republic of Italy, upon recommendation by the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
