CDP credit line

Banca Intesa ad Beograd and CDP (Cassa Depositi e Prestiti) on 25/1/2024 signed an agreement on the use of a new credit line in the amount of EUR 20 million, whereby CDP's participation in the financing is EUR 10 million.

The agreement is based on the Western Balkans Investment Framework established by the European Union ("WBIF") with the aim of supporting the long-term economic recovery of the Western Balkans region and fostering regional economic integration, as well as green and digital transition in the Western Balkans.

CREDIT LINE USERS

Beneficiaries can be small and medium-sized enterprises according to EU criteria:

  • less than 250 employees
  • revenues less than EUR 50 mln
  • total assets less than EUR 43 million
  • that the majority are privately owned
     

The number of employees is a binding condition, and in terms of financial criteria, the fulfillment of only one of the two criteria mentioned above is sufficient. In the case of groups of related parties, the data is viewed at the consolidated level.

LOAN TERMS

  • maximum loan amount: EUR 400,000
  • loan term: up to 5 years
  • grace period: up to 2 years

PURPOSE OF CREDIT LINE FUNDS

The projects that will be financed with loans from this credit line are from the following areas:

  • Renewable energy sources (solar power plants, wind parks, bioenergy/biomass and hydropower),
  • Energy efficiency (purchase of equipment, infrastructure, technologies and services that help reduce energy consumption and/or increase energy efficiency):
  • Clean transport (providing services for electric, hybrid, rail, non-motorized or multimodal transport)
  • Pollution prevention and control (land and water pollution, waste collection, processing, disposal and recycling, waste recycling).
  • Ecologically sustainable management of natural resources,
  • Sustainable water and wastewater management,
  • Adapting to climate change,
  • Circular economy,
  • Green buildings,
  • Socio-economic progress and empowerment (SMEs led by women and/or youth (≥ 51% of company shares owned by women/women or; ≥ 51% of companies have women/women as representatives (directors); or ≥ 51% of company shares owned by youth (under 30)

EXCLUSIONS / PROHIBITIONS

1. Forced labor or child labor
2. Activities or materials considered illegal under host country laws or regulations or international conventions and agreements, such as:

  • ozone depleting substances, PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) and other specific, hazardous pharmaceuticals, pesticides/herbicides or chemicals
  • wild animals or products regulated by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species or Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES);
  • unsustainable fishing methods (eg large-scale fishing and drift net fishing in the marine environment using nets longer than 2.5 km).

3. Cross-border trade in waste and waste products, unless it is in accordance with the Basel Convention and accompanying regulations.

4. Destruction of areas of high conservation value

5. Radioactive materials and unrestricted asbestos fibers.

6. Pornography and/or prostitution.

7. Racist and/or anti-democratic media.

8. In the event that any of the following products constitute a significant part of the primarily financed business activities of the project:

  • alcoholic beverages (except beer and wine);
  • tobacco;
  • weapons and ammunition;
  • gambling, casinos and similar businesses.
