Intesa Casa workshop for decorating living room
Comfortable at first touch
Textile decoration contributes the most to the feeling of warmth and comfort. Choose it carefully and enjoy its charms.
Decorative pillows can be changed depending on your furniture and living habits, and you can arrange them in several ways:
- combination of solid color pillows same or different in size,
- combination of solid color and patterned pillows, and
- combination of several patterned pillows - when you combine several patterned pillows, make sure that the patterns are proportional, i.e. not confronted.
When buying ready-made curtains, you should pay attention to the dimensions, height and width, as well as the hanging method, and if buying custom-made curtains, take into account the curtain dimensions, material and hem. A curtain should touch the floor. If it is longer, it will drag on the floor and collect dust, and if it is shorter, it can look a little ragged. It will look more elegant if the bottom hem is larger than a classic hem (about 10 cm), and keep in mind that curtains should be draped, so calculate the width of the curtain from 1.5 to 2 times the width of the window.
If the room for which you are choosing the carpet is full of colors and different patterns, you should choose a carpet of neutral color or a solid-color variant, and if you want a carpet with more colors, choose the color of furniture and decorations accordingly. If your conversation set is made of velvet, the right choice would be a carpet made of jute or a hard material, while a softer and thicker carpet would match leather set perfectly.
Ideally, a carpet should be under the furniture, but it is enough that only the front legs of the furniture are on it (while sitting, your feet should be on the carpet and not on the floor).
Choose sofa according to room shape and your habit
Some rooms have suitable shape for a corner sofa, while others are more suited for a three-seater with the addition of a two-seater and an armchair. Making a choice between the corner sofa, three-seater, two-seater or a combination of three-seater, two-seater and an armchair, depends also on your life habits - how many sitting places you need in your living room, whether your sofa is used for sleeping or just for sitting, the amount of time you spend watching television, etc. Don't forget - the sofa must be oriented directly towards the TV; a footstool can serve as an additional place to sit.
Natural materials, such as cotton, linen, wool, etc. are more difficult to maintain than synthetics, but synthetics can be uncomfortable to the touch. Our advice is to combine natural and artificial materials in order to get the best of both.
Light colors and curtains from floor to ceiling
Light colors of walls and furniture always visually expand your space, while long curtains emphasize the third dimension to your room, so it looks more spacious.
Choose smaller furniture
In spacious furniture stores, all sofas look miniature, and when we bring them into our apartment, they "enlarge". That's why you should always carry a measuring tape and a sketch with measurements of your living room with you. Keep in mind that transparent, raised-like furniture, gives the impression of uncrowded room, and thus of more space.
Mirrors visually enlarge the room
If you place mirrors opposite to the windows, you will get more light, and your room will look more spacious.
